About Up North

Up North seeks to expand in hotel operations and real estate in the Nordics and Europe. Up North is owned by the two brothers Kristian and Roger Adolfsen together with Svein Arild Steen-Mevold – the three having experience in the Nordic hospitality industry since the early 1990s. Svein Arild serves as Up North’s CEO and member of the board, while Roger is Chairman and Kristian board member.

Up North is part of the Adolfsen Group – a group of separate companies where Kristian and Roger Adolfsen are majority shareholders. The group has extensive experience from a range of industries including travel and tourism, care services, staffing and recruitment and real estate. The Adolfsen brothers have a long track record of doing business in the Nordic region and the group currently employs around 24,000 people with a total revenue of approximately NOK 14,5 billion in 2020.

Svein Arild Steen-Mevold is a highly experienced hospitality professional with 30 years in managing positions within the industry in the Nordic market. Before joining the Adolfsen Group to form Up North, Svein Arild was the Managing Director of Scandic Hotels Norway for 9 years and left the company in 2020 as corporate CPO. Svein Arild served as a board member of Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) from 2017 to 2021.
